We are a dynamic organization that offers a fast-paced work environment, and we are looking for talented individuals who are passionate about creating meaningful experiences for our guests.
As a team member at Tawakoni, you will have the opportunity to work alongside great people who are committed to our mission of creating a welcoming and inclusive space for all. If you are looking for a job where you can make a difference, have fun, and learn new skills, then we encourage you to apply to join our team at the Disciples Center at Tawakoni.
Come work for us this summer! Our current open positions are below:
Volunteers
We are able to keep our operational costs low because of our dedicated volunteers who helps us maintain our facilities and provide programing support. In particular, our summer camp season is not complete without our summer camp staff. All volunteers and staff who are working in close proximity to minors will be required to pass a standard background check every year.
Summer Leadership Interns
Each summer Tawakoni hires four to six Summer Leadership Interns to assist with a variety of tasks and activities including maintaining the pool, lifeguarding, tending campfires, leading games, serving food, washing dishes, facilitating challenge course activities, tending grounds, and more. They’ve even been known to step in as counselors when needed, and to lead music and energizers!
College students, or college-age adults, who spend the entire summer at camp with a heart for summer camping programs are invited to apply. Interns are paid a small weekly stipend and a scholarship for continuing their college studies.
Summer Program Staff
It takes the dedication of our camp volunteers and staff like you to make each and every camp season possible. Volunteers for counselors, nurses, and maintenance workers are always needed. All summer volunteers are asked to fill out a volunteer application form including references. Following are the roles we seek to fill each summer:
Directors: Adults who have a passion for working with children and youth, have served as a camp counselor, and have been recommended for their Christian leadership skills. All directors and their chaplains should also attend a annual training event at the camp.
Counselors: Adults who have a passion for working with children and youth. They are with the campers throughout the camp experience and are required to stay in the cabins with them. Directors plan training before the start of camp.
Nurses: The nurses give medications, monitor the health of campers, and at times run to the Emergency Room when required. These individuals should have training as a EMT, CNA, RN, MD or equivalent.
Maintenance Volunteers: Spend the entire camp week and give assistance to the Camp Manager in maintenance and other ways to keep the camp both attractive and functioning for a variety of activities.
